A runner is awarded points based upon his finish in the race’s age group. The runner’s best 8 out of the 12 events will be totaled for points in the 2008 Grand Prix. A runner may run as few or as many of the events as he wishes. All points and running totals will be calculated on the Greater Evansville Runner’s/Walker’s Club website at www.gerwc.com. Cost is FREE! The only requirement is that the Grand Prix participant be a member of the GERWC by April 15, 2008. Trophies will be awarded at the GERWC banquet in February, 2009! Be a part of the fun and watch your points grow in 2008. Walkers: As walkers are not scored in age groups and several races in the Grand Prix do not have a walking category, the GERWC will instead award a male and female ‘Walker of the Year’ at the GERWC Awards Banquet based upon walking events throughout 2008. Points in the Grand Prix will only be awarded to running participants. Bonus Points: Any runner who volunteers at the finish line at a race in which he does not participate will earn 3 points in the event. These points are in addition to your best eight scored races. You are welcome to volunteer for as many races as you wish. Volunteers should contact Bob Head at (812)-476-2028, (812)-833-3435, or fivek99@yahoo.com to register as a volunteer BEFORE a race date. Award specifics: Awards will be awarded in February based on ten year age groups (10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). A runner will be placed in this award age group based upon the first Grand Prix event he completes. The Grand Prix standings will be adjusted after each race. Comments and errors should be reported to chartmann@insightbb.com as soon as possible. Tie Breaker: If two runners in the same age group are tied in points at the end of the Grand Prix, the GERWC will add the times of the last two events in which both participants competed to determine the faster of the two runners and the winner of the tie in this age group. |
