GERWC    April 10, 2002

Attending:  Chad, Gordon, Bob H., Ray P., Joe, Bob C., Richard, Jim, Tom/Carol, Bob L., Cedric, Craig, and Linda

Treasurer Report: Submitted.
Committee Reports:

Web/Timing: Added March minutes, added the USATF National 15k entry, added the Holland 5k entry, added 4 pictures of Ynot2K from Janet Beamer. The president message is being held off. The coaching page for Gordon will be taken off for the time being. Gordon will reword this without a price.  Question about putting on a spotlight of a different member other than what is in the newsletter.
Timing: Toyota has 365; 8k runners and 158; 8k walkers signed up. Will have two Shutes and a generator for the printer and the computer.  It was talked about just using cards for the smaller races but Chad says no problem on using the computer on these races. But it will be up to the individual race director.

Banquet: Nothing to report at this time.

Race Calendar: Joe has given Janet, 7 races to put in the newsletter. All in the Owensboro area.

Walker’s Report: The 15k T-shirts have been received. Will have 2 people timing. Need a list of volunteers soon. The race really needs volunteers. Need lap counters, road marshals, and water station attendants.

Membership: 176 have paid so far, for this year. Need 200 for bulk rate. Please pay your membership if you haven’t done so this year.

Newsletter: Everyone should have received this already. If not contact an officer or board member.  Will have table for membership and renewals at the Arts Fest packet pick up area.

Picnic: Gordon is starting on this. He would like to hold it somewhere other than Wesselman’s. If you would like to volunteer to help him on this, please contact him.  It will probably be held in August when there are no races on a particular weekend.

Step Up Club: A bus from Yankeetown and Rio will be bringing kids for the Toyota race. They have awards for the 26.2-mile mark and the 100-mile mark, but none in between. Will decide on what mark to put another award at.

Scholarship: Will have to make this more accessible to schools around the tri-state. Will have to go through the school system for this to make it to the coaches and the counselors.

Old Business:
1. Finish Shute: We have two 2 – 200 yd. Shutes. They will use these for the first time at Toyota. Chad will then take these home.
2. Toyota: Will use a generator for the computer and printer. Awards should be ready about 11:15. There will be a 9:15 announcement made about the race. Walkers started 1 minute and 30 seconds after the runners. Very good crowd. Awards went fast.
3. Arts Council ½ marathon: For 2003. Gordon is race director. We will need support of this race from team clubs. Will need State permission to shut down one lane of Expressway (if held on part of it) Course has not been decided. Richard will work with the city engineers. The staging can be at Ol National Bank downtown. Date undecided also. Maybe local artists donating art for awards.

New Business:
1. RRCA membership: table this till after the conference. Gordon and Rob will have more info on this.
2. Credit card: Maybe getting one, instead of bothering Ced everytime for a check. Voted no.
3. A CPR firm might have to be hired as we are getting more funds for Cedric to handle. And we might have to report to IRS also. This will depend on the Toyota race.
4. Self- defense class: Will approach this towards fall.
5. Club Brochure: Elizabeth will spearhead this, and get the info to Chad and he will make up a mock brochure for the board to look at.

Other: The Safari Zoo Run might be resurrected. Norm Campbell will help Ced find a sponsor. This again will be held in the same location as before and in November also. Probably, on a Sunday afternoon. Will have more info in the future.
