GERWC Minutes         Nov. 13, 2002

Guest: Janice Johnson (Arthritis Foundation) everything is ready.

Treasurer Report: Boo Run has not paid yet. Jeff Moore race has not either. (This is a small amount) All other races are paid for. 

Race Timing/Web: Timing: 2 races timed. Boo Run had 239 finishers.  Moore Memorial race had 40 finishers. Two big races coming up. Thanksgiving and Jingle Bell. Need volunteers!
Web: Added results and minutes. Added photos of Boo Run. Took off Toyota pictures. Have had 10,000 hits now. Chad has announced he will “retire” after the Jingle Bell. We have two weeks to find someone. Whoever this person is, will have to follow Chad at the next two races. In reality we will need at least 3-4 people to handle the timing and web page.  It was suggested we put an ad in the paper for a computer literate person. Tom will check into this. Please contact Chad Hartmann if interested. This is a paying position.

Banquet: It was voted that we will have a new menu for the banquet. It is scheduled for Jan. 25th at the SWIRCA Building again. If anyone wants to volunteer for help in getting Door prizes, contact Linda Swonder. I will get application to Janet this week. To be taken to printers. If anyone has anyone they would like to nominate for runner or walker of the year, contact Gordon Benfield.

Race Calendar: No new changes. Ynot2K is Dec. 31st at 4 pm.

Walkers Report: Dec. 7th is the scheduled date for the Christmas party. It will be at CJ’s Lounge at Willow Bowling lanes. At 6-9 pm. Please contact Bob Head for details. Runners welcome. Price is $15 per person. Buffet style. 

Membership: No new info at this time. 

Newsletter: Nov 25th is the deadline. Will get this out, week after Thanksgiving.  Suggested that if we bring a guest to the banquet, and they sign up, can they get $2 off their year membership? 

Step-Up Club: Anderson’s have heard from Toyota. They would like to do the race again. They want us to do road management and timing.  We will give them a choice of these following dates: 1st: April 5th, or April 19th. This will be held on a Saturday morning. Toyota wants the Step-up kids to design a t-shirt. And have a t-shirt contest of this. 
The kids are really doing well in the club. They can get a medal at 100 miles, A CD case at 75 miles, and a gym bag at 150 miles. 

Scholarship: Joe had sent info to 30 schools. To the senior counselor’s No one has been interested so far. 

Old Business:
1. Art’s Council ½ marathon: Several runners are trying different courses. Everything else is on schedule.

New Business
1. Ynot2K: Indiana National Guard can not participate this year. Will get a Boy Scout troop to present the colors. Permit in process. Will have costume contest.  Day of registration will need 2 people to handle. Will print flyers soon. 
2. Awards for Banquet: Have no info at this time. 
3. Senior Olympics: Held at Central H.S. on May 17th. This is a Qualifier.
4. Ray Memorial race: It will be held on the old SWIRCA course. And will be the first Saturday in Nov.Nov.3rd. At 9 am. Will have awards in the SWIRCA blding. But we will have to clean up afterwards, as they have another event scheduled in the blding.   Have 16 volunteers from SIRCA. Police says it is okay. Parade permit taken care of. T-shirt will be long sleeved with a picture of Ray Rayl. Money raised from this will go to the scholarship fund. 

Other: Ray Pritchett has to get paper for the split 8 timer. It was voted in agreement for him to do so.
