Gerwc Minutes   Sept 11, 2002

Treasurer Report:  Submitted. Approved.

Timing/Web:  Changed Joe’s email. Added 3 additions to Step-Up club. Petersburg race had 70+. 3 Upcoming races. 

Banquet:  Bob Tank will be the speaker. The date for this will be Jan. 25th. At the SWIRCA blding. We voted to get Bob a $50 gift certificate to Haub’s Steak House. Have gotten a few quotes on food. Grandy’s is $4.35 per person; this includes 2 piece chicken, 3 veggies, 2 dinner rolls, and tea. And no delivery charge in local area. Papa John’s was $302 w/o tax. This includes 47 pizzas. 37, one topping, at $6.00 per pizza. And 10, supreme pizza’s at $8.00 per pizza. 

Race Calendar: Added Autumnfest 5k, in Poseyville.  Sat. the 28th. Ferdinand 5k is Oct 19th. Oct 26th is Boo Run. Nov 9th is a Memorial race to benefit Dan Moore.  Monte Cassino race has been canceled. 

Walkers Report:  Dec 7th is the tentative schedule for the Christmas party. Please contact Bob Head before or by Oct. 5th, if you would like to attend. He has the details. 

Membership:  Elizabeth has sent a book to the ex-mayor. We all had signed it. In apprietation. 

Newsletter:  23rd is the deadline. I sent something for the banquet. Thinking of adding a section, for walking, running, and triathlons. And each of these groups of people can write about their experiences or about how to train. This will be voted on. 

Step-Up: Carol had 2 brochures printed up. One for the public and one for parents. 3 colors cost 24 cents each to make. She has shoe tags for each 5 mile accomplished, for 20 miles. Also a ½ marathon bottle, when reaching that point. She also got hats for the kids. And for the parents, there is a cling on for the car.  Total of 9 clubs. And 3 potentials. Jim would like some brochures for area cross country meets. Carol will contact Toyota, in Oct. about the race for next year. 

Scholarship:  Joe has submitted letter for board to view. Mailed, 13 letters and applications to area schools. Hopefully by Jan-April, we will get to hand this out. Updated, on the web site.

New Business:
1. Ray Rayl Memorial race:  No new available info. But everyone will get a trophy. Will charge enough to get shirts and donate some to the scholarship fund. Talking on this race for a Sat. afternoon. Around 4-4:30. With free tickets to Otters game. 
2. RRCA:  This was voted on not being a good idea to join at this time. 
3. Shirts Board:  Will go with Chips Inc. quote. Light weight polo in 50/50 cot/poly blend. Colors are royal blue and gold embroidering.  Will cost $18 per shirt. With pocket it is $20. Will get price from Pearl on the embroidering. Voted no pocket. Took sizes.  But will only say Greater Evansville Runners/Walkers Club on it, 
4. Art’s Council ½ marathon:  Oct 26th. Sunday. Possibility of downtown to west side area and back downtown. 

Next meeting:  Oct 9th.
