GERWC Minutes
Oct. 8, 2003
Attending: Janet, Jim, Gordon, Joe, Bob,
Ray, Richard, Mike, Bob, Carol, Ced, Linda and Jerry Walker
Treasurer Report: Submitted and approved
by the board.
Race Timing: Nancy at Deaconess gave
Mike the last 3 bib numbers so he can make sure the computer and timing
equipment is in order, before the Boo Run. The list of entries has not
been provided yet. She did not get bib numbers for the kids, but Mike will
ask her to check into Runners World about more numbers. All the races will
finish in the shute. Only the kids will not be entered in the computer.
We have not contacted Judy at Goodwill yet. Maybe will use two shutes or
at least a longer one. With more help at the finish line. Ray Pritchett
needs the walkie-talkies at the cross-country meets.
Web site: everything is back up to
date now.
Banquet: Will use the same caterer
as last year, but he will cook slightly more than last. He will need a
close count at least a week ahead and an actual count at least 2-3 days
prior. Tom will contact John Bingham again and give him these dates. Jan
24th and 31st or Feb 7th and 21st. He will let us know as soon as possible.
Gordon is trying to raise some sponsorship for the expense of the speaker
fee. Otherwise the club and the Step-Up will split the difference. Carol
suggested a Fundraiser lunch and run. This will benefit the Step-Up club.
The program and how we had out awards will be the same. Gordon will get
the bios of the runners.
Race Calendar: Joe will be resigning
this post at the end of the year, but will stay with the Scholarship. Janet
will take over for the calendar.
Walkers: Bob is not going to pursue
the combined Christmas dinner. The USATF Indiana State 20k is still scheduled
for an 8 am. Start time at Wesselman's park. We do not expect a large crowd.
Membership: Janet is resigning from
this position at the end of the year. Anyone interested in taking over,
please contact Janet or Gordon. Two new members have not received all of
their newsletters.
Newsletter: Jerry Walker will be
handling this next issue and had a question about the Toyota logo. Carol
will send this to him. Don't forget the email for all articles for the
newsletter goes to gerwcnews@yahoo.com we are looking for articles about
the Chicago Marathon or the Poseyville Auto fest race.
Picnic: No info available at this
time.
Step-Up: Over 300 kids are now involved.
There are still other schools still considering joining. Carol will need
to purchase more incentives and get another printing on the log books.
The leader books have been reprinted. Nina at Toyota has contacted about
the Spring Day 8k. Dates available (in this order) are May 8th, May 15th
and April 17th.
Scholarship: This will be open to
the public for trial bases of one year. Joe has mailed letters out to 31
High schools in 10 counties. Deadline in April 2004. He has had some interested.
Special Event: no info available.
Old Business:
Brochure: Richard had gotten a few trial ones
printed up. They are very nice. He will need to add something about our
monthly meetings. He can get 1000 for $207. And will try to talk them into
2000 for $300. This has been motioned and seconded. Board approved also.
Yoga for Runners: Considering the Health Matters
at St Mary's for the sessions. It will be 6 weeks. At a cost of $20 for
members and $40 for non-members with free membership to the club. There
is a limit of 20 per class. This was motioned and seconded for approval
and the board voted yes.
New Business
Generic Business cards: Richard will see about
getting generic business cards with the logo on them and a blank line for
name and telephone (or email) to pass out to race directors or whoever
is interested in the club. Can get 1000 for $32. This was motioned and
seconded, with the board voting approval. Richard will also check into
business card size magnets with the logo and web address. He will get price
for next meeting.
Ynot2K: Arts Council approved Ced's print. Last
year they had used all that they ordered. Don will need to get something
together for the newsletter soon. Richard will get the parade permit. The
cost for this race is $10, and includes the autographed print and a First
Night button.
Other: Drew Swonder will be taken
off the board as he could not make the meetings and Laura Finch will be
in the Hawaii Ironman. (Good Luck!) Bernie is now home from the hospital
and was seen watching a road race!
