GERWC MINUTES
June 2004
The June meeting of The Greater Evansville
Runners / Walkers Club was called to order by President, Richard Tenbarge.
Present: Richard Tenbarge, Cedric
Hustace, Rhonda Trail, Bob Christmas, Jim Effinger, Bob Head, Bob Lauderdale,
Don Nichols, Ray Pritchet, Jerry Seddon, Mike Higney, Joseph Whelan, and
Guest Barbara Cox.
The new secretary, Rhonda Trail,
was introduced, as well as guest, Barbara Cox.
The treasurer's report was handed
out and approved.
Mike Higney reported on the race
timing and stated we have two races coming up that will be timed by our
club. The Jasper Wetloff will be August 7 and the Pike Co. 5K is August
14. He is going to confirm these races.
Chad Hartmann was not in attendance,
but Richard discussed the web page and the ideas of possibly creating a
online news letter.
There was no discussions of the following
committee's : Banquet, Race Calendar, Walker's or Membership as the directors
were not in attendance.
The topic of an online newsletter
was discussed and our visitor gave valuable insight on how the Runner's
/ Walker's Club from Cincinnati did their letter. We decided that more
information was needed and also input from the members would decide if
this was a sensible and wise decision to make. This would be discussed
more in depth at a future time.
Information on the picnic was discussed
and updated by Don Nichols. It will be held on August 15 at 3:30 at Wesselman's
Park. It will be open to non-members this year. Bob is heading up a horseshoe
tournament to be held this day. Final picnic information will be discussed
at the next meeting.
The scholarship winners will be honored
at our next meeting.
The summer track program is going
well and volunteers are still needed for some of the meets. Please contact
the club if you are interested in helping.
The Otter Run will be held July 10.
Richard needs some more volunteers for this also. Please contact him if
you are able to help out. This is one of our fundraisers for the club.
The meeting was adjourned and the
next meeting is scheduled for July 14, 2004.
Submitted by Rhonda Trail, Secretary.
