GERWC MINUTES
MAY 12, 2004

PRESENT: Richard Tenbarge, Cedric Hustace, Janet Beamer, Angela Reckelhoff, Carol Anderson, Don Nichols, Ray Pritchet, Bob Christmas, Bob Lauderdale, Bob Head, Jerry Seddon, Mike Higney, Joe Whelan, and Jim Effinger.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Treasurer’s Report was reviewed and approved. Motion by Bob Lauderdale and a second by Mike Higney, Board approved.

RACE TIMIMNG: Mike discussed the Toyota Run, there were 713 entries.  Billing was discussed and agreed upon and Joe Whelan will do the billing.

WEB PAGE: The web page was discussed and everyone agreed that it is looking good and contains a lot of good information.

BANQUET: No information available at this time.

RACE CALENDER: Janet Beamer reported on the Race Calendar and brought everyone up to date.  She also reported that she has a new email address and is no longer using the old one.  New address is Evvrunner@aol.com.

WALKER’S REPORT: Bob Head stated that there was nothing to report at this time.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Angela Reckelhoff gave the membership report.  There are 59 individual members and 34 family memberships.  A membership drive will be held the late fall. 

NEWSLETTER:  Jerry Seddon gave the report on the newsletter, which all members should have received by this time.  Additional copies are available at Gilles Cycling and Fitness.

PICNIC: Don Nichols reported on the Picnic preparations.  There is a great ad for the Picnic in the latest Newsletter.  The Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2004 at Wesselman Woods nature Preserve starting at 3:30PM.  Look for more info later.

STEP UP PROGRAM: Carol Anderson reported on the Step Up Club.  The Health’s Department Booklet on running and walking courses in the Evansville Area is nearing completion and 3200 copies will be made and distributed.  It will also be listed on the GERWC website and will be downloadable.  The Greater Evansville Runners/Walkers Club will be listed as a sponsor. 

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Joe Whelan reported on the Scholarship Program.  Ray Pritchet, Tom Anderson and Joe will vote on the finalists and the Scholarships will be awarded at the June Meeting

SPECIAL EVENTS: A shoe clinic was discussed as well as perhaps some type of YOGA or Pilates class.

SUMMER TRACK PROGRAM: Gordon Benfield is ready to go on the track program. Flyers have been distributed and there was an ad in the newsletter.  Gordon is asking for volunteers to assist him. 

OTTER STADIUM RUN:  Richard Tenbarge reported on the progress of the Otter Stadium Run scheduled for 6:00PM on July 10, 2004.  Again Volunteers will be needed for various tasks and help will be needed putting up and manning the water stations.  Janet Beamer suggested two water stops on the course.  We will try to do that.

OTHER:  Bob Lauderdale stated that the Senior Games will be held in June with Track and Field on June 12, 2004.  Bob encouraged everyone to either participate or volunteer. 

Bob Christmas reported that Jim Effinger and himself had gone up to Holland this past weekend to help time their race. Holland had problems with their mailing and only a few runners showed up. Bob and Jim helped time the race and the club will receive a donation for their services.
