Weinbach’s Café - 14 Present
There was a presentation by Arthritis Foundation
reps B J Ferrell,(Branch Director), Jenny Puckett, and Gay Winslow. They
need help with the Jingle Bell 5k Run/Walk. Gordon told them we could provide
finish line duties for $2.25 per finisher or road control and finish line
for $3.25 per finisher. Bob Head offered to help them with other details.
They were told to decide as soon as possible what they want us to do.
Minutes of the July 2006 meeting were approved
as written.
Financial report as of August 1, 2006 was
approved as written.
No correspondence
Race Timing
1. Otter’s 5k Stadium Run/Walk ready to
go for August 12
2. Bob’s Gym 5k is August 29 9:00 am
Banquet
1. Per Gordon we need to find a director
and set a date. It was the consensus of those attending that the Saturday
preceding the Super Bowl would be our first choice at the SWIRCA Center.
Events Calendar
1. Per Becky Keisel the picnic attendance
was low but all whom did attend had a good time.
Walkers Report
1. Ray Pritchett and Bob Head are helping
the YMCA with Mini Marathon training.
Membership
1. Per Gordon we still need a chairperson.
The club has 89 members at this time. Various ways to promote the club
at races was discussed.
Newsletter
1. The club survey on page one of the web
page received only 9 responses. Articles for the next issue should be sent
in soon. Pictures are welcomed and should be sent to Chad Hartmann.
Picnic
1. Not many attended, also many sent reservations,
food was purchased for them but they didn’t show up. There was a discussion
about changing the location, date, and time.
Step-Up Club
1. The yearly mail out to local schools
went out. There are schools in Henderson County Kentucky interested. The
incentives were changed as had been discussed earlier in the year.
Scholarship
1. Issues tabled
Summer Track Program
1. Highest participation ever and many
club volunteers and sponsors created a very successful program. Discussed
giving medals for all age groups.
Special Events
1. A director is still needed.
Social Events
1. The next pub run will be August 23 at
Nick’s Pizza and Wings on Buena Vista Road on the north side at 6:00 pm.
There will be free eats and drink for club members and walkers are welcome.
The September run will be at Shane Threads house. More info to come.
Otter’s 5k Stadium Run/Walk
1. All work
assignments have been issued. The shower house at Garvin Pool will be open;
there will be 2 water stops, water and ice provided by the Otters as well
as 100 admission tickets.
St Patrick 7k Event
1. The former 5k will be a 7k March 17,
2007 and take place at the Centre in Evansville. They have asked GERWC
to time the race for a flat fee of $1000.00. There was discussion on that
matter and we will revisit next month.
Business from the floor
1. Bob Lauderdale stated that $2400.00
has been raised. $1210.00 will go to the Ray Rayl Scholarships to be awarded
at the club banquet. SWIRCA will get $1210.00 for supplying the building
and other services they provide the GERWC.
