GERWC Meeting – January 9, 2008 – 6:00 pm

Downtown Evansville Library – 14 present – Chaired by Don Nichols 

·         No guests

·         Minutes of the December 2007 meeting were approved as presented

·         Financial report for December 2007 was approved as presented

·         Correspondence: “Spirit of the Marathon” documentary to be shown at Kerosotes Theater January 24. It stars many legendary marathoners

Race Timing

·       GERWC races for 2008 were presented and discussed

·                Dates for other local races are not known at this time. Discussion as to what to about

         Souper Bolt 5k. Race director has not contacted us

·               Grand Prix events for 2008 to be discussed after the meeting

·              New Years Eve 4k timing went smoothly without problems

Race Management

·  “Livin It Up “ race will have two chutes

·  Updated and new race results are up

Banquet

·      Event is ready to go. Reservations are coming in slowly so it was agreed to wait as long as possible to place food order with the caterer. Bill Hussmann will co-ordinate the Swift Athletics fashion show.

·      A motion was made and carried after discussion to reimburse SWIRCA for the liquor license they will purchase for our banquet.

Membership

  • Time to renew membership

Newsletter

  • Deadline for article for the next issue is February 15

Step Up Club

  • Three clubs to date. Including Henderson and Oak Hill
  • The 2008 Toyota Spring Day 8k will be May 3

Scholarship

  • Applications are coming in and the cut off will be April 15 and presented in June. The scholarship money has been put into a CD as per previous club action.

Summer Track Program

  • Gordon Benfield will direct if the club can secure the facility and insurance.

Special Events

  • The first Pub Run for 2008 may be in February

 

Old Business

  • Livin It Up expo assignments were set and we will have someone there throughout the event.
  • Nominees for the annual Ray Rayl award and Volunteer of the Year should be sent to Chris Thomas. These are presented at the banquet
  • 2007 Grand Winners not at the banquet will receive a notice to pick them up at Swift Athletics
  • Final order of business: A motion was made and carried to accept Chris Thomas as the new GERWC president.
