GERWC Profile - Todd Tucker

If you’re reading this newsletter, you know how time-consuming and exhausting running can be.  Okay—add to that menu biking and swimming.  And a full-time job.  And a family, complete with wife and two kids.  Plus involvement in various local interests.

Are you tired yet?

Somehow, Todd Tucker manages to fit all this into his week and remains fairly sane.  He’s been running about 7 years, and has been involved in triathlons for 5 years.  On the subject of his running he claims, “I’m not fast”, but for a guy with so many irons in the fire, he moves at a pretty good clip!

Todd works all his training around his job as president of Tucker Publishing Group, and his family life, which includes wife, Kristen, and sons, Jackson and Maxwell. Todd is currently preparing for the Great Floridian in Clermont, Florida, a full Ironman to be held October 19.  He prefers distances that are challenging, so of course his favorite distances are half- and full-marathons.  Favorite races include Race for the Cure (“If you haven’t ever walked a race with your spouse/kids/someone meaningful, you should!”), Chicago Marathon, Lake Geneva ½ Ironman, and Gulf Coast ½ Ironman.  (Would you have expected any other answer from this guy?!)

When asked what advice he would offer his fellow runners, Todd suggests:  “Don’t overtrain—cross train!  Any of you hard-core runners ever notice how many of your running friends are injured?!”  He encourages recovery days, also, which helps prevent injuries and avoid burnout.  Sage advice from a person who has never had a running-related injury!

Best of luck to you, Todd, in the Great Floridian!
