Could we be so lucky, in the middle of winter, that we could have had what may turn out to be the nicest day of winter? Well, we may have considering the 18+ inches of snow only one week earlier. This is December 31st! Integra Bank once again served as the principal sponsor along with the Central Labor Council of Southern Indiana, AFL-CIO, the Southern Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council, Bob Tenbarge Exterior Home Design and Construction, and Schmitt Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Thank you very much. The runners, walkers, young, very young, old, and in between lined up at 3:30 p.m.as Evansville mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel followed race director Don Nichols instructions and announcements to call the racers to their mark and sounded the horn to start the fun run and walk. The course toured the downtown area past the Civic Center, down the former Walkway, around the Old Courthouse, past the Sailor and Soldiers Coliseum and old jail then back the Centre. Hot soup and other goodies were waiting for them. Clowns and door prizes filled out a fun filled New Year’s Eve afternoon. Many enjoyed the display of original art work displayed by local artist and race walker, Cedric Hustace, who was introduced to the crowd. Many expressed how much they enjoy this race and are hopeful
it will continue for years to come. We will make every effort to do just
that. Happy New Year.
